Job opportunity: finance administrator

We’re an award-winning charity ambitious to keep growing and reaching more young people with support and opportunities. Alongside our practitioners directly supporting young people facing challenges in school, with family or with mental wellbeing, we need effective operational team members to keep our work safe, efficient and accountable.

This newly created Finance Administrator role will create essential additional capacity to help manage our finance function, maximising our effectiveness and smooth running.

We need a calm, focused individual with the relevant skills and experience to support all our accounting, payment and banking processes and to assist with the preparation of financial forecasting and reporting.

Reporting to our Head of Business & Operations, you’ll be part of a small and friendly team all motivated by the same mission and values. You’ll need to co-operate with others and you’ll also need to work reliably to deadlines on your own initiative. We’re looking for a problem-solver who values accuracy and attention to detail, and who wants to put these strengths to rewarding use helping their community.

You’ll need at least 2 years’ professional experience in bookkeeping or equivalent, including managing bank accounts and BACS payments. Relevant professional qualifications are an advantage but not essential. Experience and skills using an online accounting package, strong working knowledge of Excel and other MS Office applications, confident numeracy and accurate use of spreadsheets and equivalent to prepare finance reports are all a must.

This permanent PAYE role is offered initially for 10-15 hours per week. We work hard to be a welcoming and supportive employer, offering some flexibility over working patterns, school holidays and some home-based working if required (not 100% home-based). We aim to nurture our staff and offer opportunities for development whenever they arise.

You’ll meet our young people and the adults supporting them in our Bath HQ, which is on the eastern edge of the city centre and offers a kitchen, café area, outdoor space and parking, as well as full wheelchair access.
