Volunteer mentoring
We recruit, train and support adult volunteers to mentor young people in need of early help, offering time and space to explore difficulties and follow their positive interests
Mentoring Plus supports young people in Bath & NE Somerset who are facing challenges. We help 5-25 year olds feel connected through award-winning mentoring schemes, youth clubs and inspiring activities programmes in our community.
Volunteer mentoring
We recruit, train and support adult volunteers to mentor young people in need of early help, offering time and space to explore difficulties and follow their positive interests
Professional mentoring
Young people with more complex challenges in school or at home can also benefit from 1-1 mentoring in our community from one of our experienced mentors
Student and Family Support
Our professionals support students to re-access mainstream education following exclusion, low attendance, managed moves and similar, with family support also offered
Activities and participation
We offer young people access to inspiring, supported group activities to build friendships and confidence – and our advocacy groups feed back on services, co-design events and build skills
Training
We offer mentor skills training to businesses and organisations, while our student peer mentor training programmes bring compassion and support into schools
Our volunteer mentors come from all walks of life, all age groups (over 21) and all life experiences. They are all kind, reliable, committed to a year-long mentoring relationship, and enjoy getting out and about with their mentee, following the young person’s interests and trying new things around our county. We always need our next cohort of mentors and provide full training at intervals throughout the year.
As well as the rewards of making a difference to a young person needing support, volunteer mentors tell us they have learned confidence, listening and communications skills, self-knowledge and lots about what’s going on in our community. Lots return to mentor again, and some make a career change as a result.

Thank you to all our runners
What a fantastic day we had Bath Half Marathon on Sunday. Thank you to our runners who were all amazing, our staff volunteers who helped out on the day in the charity hall, Sue from No Regrets Running Bath and everybody that came by our stand for a cup of tea and a chat.
One of our mentors ran the entire race in a frog costume, thanks Alan you were amazing!
We will have a few charity places in the March 2024 Bath Half, if your interested in a place get in touch.

How can we help young people thrive in education? What works? What can we do alongside schools to help young people cope within them?
That’s our theme at this year’s Mentoring Plus AGM with speakers and discussions. If you have children and teens at school, if you’re a school staff member, a fellow professional, a supporter of our work or just interested in young people’s wellbeing, we want you to join the conversation.

What can we do alongside schools to help young people cope within them?
That’s our theme at this year’s Mentoring Plus AGM on Monday the 27th Nov, 6.30pm, with speakers and discussion: what can we do to help young people struggling in school. We know we can't fix everything, but we don’t accept that we can do nothing.
If you have children and teens at school, if you’re a school staff member, a fellow professional, a supporter of our work or just interested in young people’s wellbeing, we want you to join the conversation.

The Big Give Christmas Appeal
The Big Give Christmas Challenge, the UK’s biggest match-funding campaign, is back again. You can DOUBLE your donation to Mentoring Plus. We are delighted to have already received matched giving pledges for £7,500 BUT to unlock this amount, we need to raise another £7,500 IN JUST 7 DAYS!
If we reach our fundraising target we will be able to support the salary for our Volunteer Mentoring Senior Practitioner next year. This skilled team member leads the project and directly supports up to 15 young people and their mentors at any one time. It’s a pivotal role, managing referrals, assessments, mentor training and matching and safeguarding.
Please help our work! You can donate online at The Big Give from Tuesday 28th November until Tuesday 5th December.
Charity Christmas Trees
We will be holding our charity Christmas Tree sale this December. You can pre-order your tree from our shop, for collection in December, or come and visit us at our Youth Hub just off the London Rd in Bath. All the trees are Nordman Firs which are renowned for not losing their needles and from a sustainable tree farm in the UK.
Whether you are looking to buy for your office, pub, shop or home buy your tree from us and know that you are supporting young people in your community who are facing really tough challenges in their lives this Christmas.
Bath 5k Map Launch
Join us on World Mental Health Day, Tuesday the 10th of October, for a 5k walk from the map with Off the Record and Annie Legge who developed the map as a tool to build community, encourage access to the outdoors and enable more time offline to support mental health and wellbeing.
