This is the difference you could make by volunteering with us and mentoring a young person for a couple of hours a week. By listening and exploring activities you both enjoy, you could be the best part of a young person's week, helping them see themselves and their future in a new light.

The young people we support are facing real challenges, but time with you can make all the difference. What means so much to them is simply knowing you've chosen to be there, that you'll listen without judgement or agenda, and give them the space to just be themselves.
We'll be with you every step of the way

Using our application form, tell us about yourself and provide the info we need for background checks. We'll also ask you to apply for a DBS.
Complete our two day training course. We'll equip you with the knowledge and skills to have a positive, safe and rewarding experience.
An informal conversation to check you are ready to be matched with a young person.

Why do young people need volunteer mentors
Life for young people today presents real challenges including poor mental health, low self-esteem, anxiety, and loneliness. As a mentor, you will know what truly matters to your mentee — their interests and hopes — and become a positive role model making a difference step by step.
How are mentees referred to Mentoring Plus
Mentees are usually referred by school or family. We work closely with them to ensure genuine interest and understanding of what mentoring involves. We spend weeks getting to know mentees, exploring their hopes for mentoring, support needs, and interests.
Why does Mentoring Plus need volunteer mentors
What makes volunteer mentoring so successful and special is that both mentor and mentee have chosen to be there. Mentees know their mentor supports them without judgement or agenda; weekly sessions provide an authentic space to relax, have fun, and build confidence.
