Information for schools & referrers
Mentoring Plus’s Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) have been commissioned by BANES who will part-fund alongside schools to provide support throughout the coming academic year to pupils who are showing early indicators of Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). This is for pupils in KS2 - KS4 inclusive.
This might include ‘flickering attendance’ (with a pattern of reduced/reducing attendance above 80%), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, issues in peer groups, bereavement, or parental separation.
Pupils will have access to a practitioner who will guide them through 8 weeks of 1:1 support throughout a 10-week intervention. Practitioners will also support the schools and families providing recommendations and signposting.
The team aims to have a capacity of 16 pupils at any one time.
How to refer
Referrals are made through the Health Single Point of Access (SPA) Panel which are held every Wednesday at 3pm during term time. Referrers must attend these panels to support the referral.
Please note that this provision is not accessible for pupils with EHCP’s.
If you have any questions regarding a referral to RIT please contact Anna Brownell, Lead RIT Practitioner – Mentoring Plus - anna.brownell@mentoringplus.net / 01225 429694.
