It was our Bath Christmas Market charity stall day last Friday. We’d had two brilliant volunteers from Wessex Water come and help us assemble cookie mix jars, lots of donated sweets and fabulous toys for a lucky dip from Wild & Wolf.
Youth Reps Lewis and James came down to help on the stall, and so did Bath Uni student John. The day began with a generous donation from Visit Bath who had chosen us as their nominated charity.
Visitors and locals alike asked lots about our work, shared their own stories and made us proud of being part of this community. Lots enquired about becoming volunteers – no wonder all our staff loved being part of it!
A day before, Riverside was a polling station for two local wards. Rain-soaked voters came and went all day, and the weight of the event seemed to be on their shoulders.
And yet – several stopped to ask about our charity, shared their own stories, and even enquired about volunteering as mentors.
Good people will always come forward to help those who are struggling, no matter what’s going on around them, and that’s what makes our work feel possible.
